Will it really be cheaper for some "storage farm" somewhere out there to store my 100 gigs than for me to do it myself, on my home server that I can access from anywhere in the world? The storage farm will have to worry about security and liability if the information is lost. Won't this require duplication? So they will have to have quite an expensive infrastructure attached. Why would I pay for this when I can just stick my server under my desk and let the dog sleep next to it? I don't lease a car, so why should I lease storage space that I can buy?

Anyway isn't the point really moot from an investment perspective? The storage is going to be somewhere. If I really do need 100 gigs in a few years, I think there is money to be made somewhere in this business.

PS: Get well soon Paul.
