Hey Z. The Morgan Stanley Research Report on NN says that ATM will be replaced by IP, with QOS in ATM replaced via something else in IP. I remember following this, via I think it was called RSVP, several years ago, but it was all hype. Can you summarize the QOS issue, in your opinion, as it seemed to me back then that QOS via ATM was the real jewel for ATM.

Z.O: I respect your views on ATM.

However in the same time frame NN tanked, IP Routers did exceedingly well and IPO's making IP Terrabit routers took off. Surely if ATM was that hot we would have seen IPO's based on IP/ATM. I have not seen any.

The fact is that our ATM stock NN is down during a peak in ATM technology. I would like to see the market(thru NN) respond to your claims. That will be the best proof that IP/ATM is still the protocol of choice for the Carriers.
