Dan,

<<. I mean France is such a world leader in everything an all.........>>

they have a lower abortion rate and lower rate of STD's. YOu can hide from that fact, or accept it. Most people would accredit that fact to being open about sex, not making it a guilt ridden event and denying that it is a human urge.

<<A certain number are going to be car theives, shall we start lock picking classes in the 6th or 7th grade?>>

You are equating sex to stealing cars. That is half of the problem. What child will confide in their parents and look for guidance when they get the impression their parents will think they are no better than a car thief. All for urges that they are going to naturally have. That is a recipe for making sure that kids will look for and get guidance in all the wrong places.

<<A certain number are going to smoke, shall we pass out Lucky's in preschool so they know how to inhale so as to not bother other people? >>

NO, we will educate them to the dangers of smoking.

It is more than knowing what a rubber is, Dan. Tt is knowing
what the dangers of sex are. It is knowing about disease. There is so much misinformation about AIDs and other diseases that it is scary.

Did you know that amajority of people still think you can't get AIDS from oral sex. That many people think you can't get it from heterosexual sex? That is scary. Many kids think you can't get pregnant during a menstrual cycle. That is scary.

No one is advocating telling kids to just go out and have sex, it's okay to bang your brains out if you like. what they want is to educate them so that they can understand that sex entails a great deal of responsibility and has some very real and sometimes harsh consequences. That if you choose to ignore those consequences at least they have a chance of mitigating a great deal of them.

Being armed iwth knowledge is a good thing. Ignorance is never good.

Mark

Seriously, does the New Testament say anything against premarital sex especially among teenagers? I know the Old Testament orders priests to kill their daughters if they come to marriage unchaste. I don't think this is generally practiced even among hyper-orthodox priestly families,or at least it isn't publicized if they do. This suggests that biblical views of chastity are pretty much obsolete.
I think real morality is that sex partners of any age should be loving and concerned for each other, even if it is a one-night stand. Your mileage may vary.
