Re: Was Suzanne expecting to be attacked? This is another vital problem we need to solve. I think the lack of defensive wounds and the localization of the blows shows that not only was there no struggle but no "instinctual" movement either. For example, wouldn't someone being stabbed repeatedly in one area try to cover that area with their hands? So, yes, it certainly seems like she wasn't expecting to be killed. However, as I've said, I think it's also possible she was totally subdued. So how do we go about figuring out which is more likely? OK. Let's see if this makes sense... First off, here are "our" assumptions: 1. Based on prior reasoning, we seem to all agree the use of a car was highly probable. 2. I think we all agree that where she was killed was most probably not her planned final destination. 3. I think we all agree that it is far more likely she was driven to where she was found rather than that she walked for quite some distance, was picked up, then got out a few minutes later and continued walking. Second, here are the "disputed" facts: 1. I say she didn't know her killer but others here think she might have. 2. I say she was killed in the car but others aren't so sure. This makes four possible scenarios: 1. She was killed outside of a car and knew her killer 2. She was killed outside of a car and didn't know her killer I'll stop here at the first two scenarios. I think it pretty much a given that if she somehow were outside the car at a place that was not her final destination that something was very wrong. If she didn't know her killer one would assume she'd have taken off running. This means the killer would have had to stop the car, run after her with a knife, and somehow surprise her to the point where she didn't scream, didn't try to defend herself, didn't get pushed to the ground, etc. Very improbable, IMO. If she knew the killer, the only variable I see different is that she probably wasn't running away. In fact, I think if she knew the killer she'd have been much more likely to turn around and confront him and therefore much less likely to be caught by total surprise. So, this, again, leads me to believe she was killed inside a car. This leaves two more possible scenarios: 3. She was killed inside of a car and knew her killer 4. She was killed inside of a car and didn't know her killer If she knew her killer one would assume he would have been alone (i.e. not with friends). He would have been in the driver's seat and Suzanne in the passenger seat. Obviously he didn't kill her while driving, so he must have pulled to the side. If he pulled to the side, most likely it would have been because the conversation was getting quite heated. If so, I'd assume Suzanne would have been keenly aware of his every move. Even if she was not, I still find it very very difficult to see how someone sitting in a driver's seat could surreptitiously grab a knife (what was he doing with a knife in the first place; why was it on his person rather than in the glove compartment, etc.), lean over, and get the needed leverage to stab someone through the top of the head. It's an almost unnatural angle. If she didn't know her killer and he had pulled over to the side of the road, same scenario plus the real possibility that Suzanne would have opened the door and tried to run away. None of these two scenarios, IMO, make much sense either. Therefore, by process of elimination, I am, again, led to believe she was killed in a car with more than one person in it. I think she was put in the front seat and a subdued with a knife to the throat. At some point the killer slit her throat and then stabbed her multiple times to make sure she was dead. Recall that she was pronounced dead at 10:26 at the hospital, not where she was found, the implication being she was still alive at 10pm when the ambulance arrived there-- this after a slit throat and 17 stab wounds. Sounds like she was stabbed with a pen knife or something flimsy, or perhaps the killer wasn't very strong. At any rate, the point is that she may have been continually stabbed because she just wasn't dead! A sickening thought I know, but one which I think makes sense. - Jeff
