Mr.F, thanks very much for your speedy reply and your cogent reasoning. i think you are right.
i am doing more research on where lu's nov. 10 announced 37 Gbp/s OC-48 product fits in in the contest for long-haul network building. i.e. whether it's either an answer or a step in the right direction to nt's 10 gigs in OC-192; or whether it's not pertinent.
and what it would mean if nt acquired qtera:
e.g. perhaps lu has in Bell Labs a 2,000 mi.+ transmitter sans regeneration, so that nt has lost some momentum (as a lab, not as a stock) that we don't realize. or conversely whether both lu and nt need qtera, but that roth has more willingness to bet $3.5 billion than mcginn.
