Jon, I agree completely. People here on SI are always seeing evil Market Makers in every stock move. I take it as a sign of inexperience. So long as the stock has more than one or two MMs, and a reasonable market cap it is pretty immune to that kind of manipulation.

On small cap stocks, the MMs certainly do go after stops. And they've been caught and fined for manipulating the bid/ask. But there's just no way they can do that on a stock with his many shares.

It's tempting to blame others for our mistakes. Sometimes I'd swear that there's a guy in NY who's job it is to watch my trades and them move the stock in the other direction. (Now, if I could just get his name....)

Perhaps you misread my post by failing to read properly the one to which I had replied. I, personally, I couldn't care less what the market makers are doing so I do not understand how your hermaneutics read "whine" into what I wrote.
