Tanisys to sell memory module business to All Components Semiconductor Business News (12/14/99, 06:26:05 PM EDT) AUSTIN, Tex.--Tanisys Technology Inc. here today said it has agreed to sell its memory module business to All Components Inc. of Dallas. Under the agreement, an affiliate of All Components will purchase the stock of Tanisys (Europe) Ltd. in Blantyre, Scotland. A value on the sale was not released. Tanisys said the sale will enable it to focus more resources on its DarkHorse memory module test systems, which are produced in Austin. A meeting of shareholders will be held in February to ratify the sale of the memory module business to All Components. "Over the past few months, Tanisys has sought to improve shareholder value through capital infusion, merger, sale of a portion or all of the company or an alliance that could improve the company's posture within our industries," explained Charles T. (Chuck) Comiso, president and CEO of Tanisys. "All Components Inc. is a substantial supplier of semiconductor devices and finds the memory module business of Tanisys attractive to their business strategy. "Tanisys now will concentrate its resources on the DarkHorse memory module test systems which have become a growing portion of the business as new technologies such as higher speed synchronous DRAM and Rambus memory become prevalent requirements of computing systems," Comiso added. All Components hopes to use Tanisys' memory module operations to increase its just-in-time delivery of products to European customers, said Robert Cooper, company president and CEO. "Furthermore, Tanisys' domestic operation complements our family of 'memory solution company' acquisitions by adding tier one customers and increased manufacturing and engineering capacity," he said.
