UK's Brown says UK gold policy has led to gold price recovery
London--Dec 14--UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown on Tuesday gave
a strong defense of the UK's policy of selling part of its gold reserves by
public auction. Brown said that the UK's policy had led to greater market
transparency and stability and had led to a recovery in the gold price. He
repeated that the sale program had been undertaken for portfolio reasons and
that it would continue in its current form. (Story .19250)
