Jeffrey, i agree on your observation re. leadership...i mentioned in my earlier post that that counts as the lone positive i can see. except maybe the fact that the broad NYSE list is probably oversold by now....
still, it's indicative of the narrowing of the market. i actually think that major tops are rarely announced by a faltering leadership...since that's usually the last bastion to fall.
which is why major tops are rarely identified...i'm not saying we are at one, mind you, i'm not a fortune-teller. conceivably the narrowing could become even more extreme. but as they say, no bells are rung when we're there...

let me add that according to some cycle work i follow, the market should stay strong well into next year. i find that hard to believe, but this mania has surprised most people countless times with it's durability...

regards,

hb

Jeffry, I think many of the stocks you mention have faltered in the past few days. AOL and SUNW have formed blowoff tops, up and down on high volume. GE and MSFT are going strong, but the others you mention seem to be hanging in the balance, staying flat now after a long run up. If we want to be bullish we can say they're consolidating, or on the other hand we could say they've lost the momentum they need to move higher.
