Second Quarter Highlights:
The Company completed its initial public offering of approximately 5.75 million common shares (including the underwriters over-allotment provision) on November 19, 1999. CacheFlow is listed on the Nasdaq National Market under the symbol "CFLO." CacheFlow announced the general availability of release 2.1 of its CacheOSTM, an operating system built expressly for Internet caching. CacheOS 2.1 is designed to enable CacheFlow Internet caching appliances to accept redirected HTTP requests from Cisco routers using the most recent version of the Web Cache Communications Protocol (WCCP version 2.0). This allows for the transparent deployment of caching within IP networks, delivering up to a 10 times improvement in Web response time without requiring additional network components. The Company introduced three new members of its industry-leading family of Internet caching appliances. The CacheFlow 3000 series, scaling up to T3 throughput, attains a price/performance ratio unprecedented in the industry. The CacheFlow 500-electronic commerce series (CacheFlow 500-ec) is the first solution expressly optimized to accelerate e-commerce and protect overburdened firewalls for enterprises and Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The CacheFlow 110 is uniquely designed for deployment in remote offices and points of presence (PoPs) where price sensitivity is key.
Global One Deploys CacheFlow Internet Caching Appliances to Deliver Content-Replication Services in International Markets
CacheFlow Solution Brings Frequently Requested Internet Content Closer to Users
Sunnyvale, California, December 15, 1999 -- CacheFlow® Inc. (NASDAQ: CFLO), a leading provider of Internet caching appliances, today announced that Global One, recently awarded "Best Carrier 1999" by customers under Emap Media WorldCommunicationAwards 1999, has implemented CacheFlow's Internet caching appliances to help it enter the fast-growing Internet content-replication market. Global One has deployed the CacheFlow solution in nearly 30 countries to offer its high-performance, innovative Dynamic Content Replication service to traffic-intensive Web sites worldwide. The Global One service will help Web sites move frequently requested content closer to end users' network access points, thereby avoiding network congestion and providing better overall performance.
"Web-site operators increasingly rely on sophisticated, bandwidth-intensive graphics and multimedia content to attract potential customers. As a result, the size of file transfer from a Web site to the end user's browser has also increased. Therefore, users are more likely to experience poor performance due to bandwidth constraints at popular Web sites. The Global One Dynamic Content Replication service solves this dilemma," said Jonathan Chou, product manager for IP applications at Global One. "Global One selected CacheFlow because we found it to have the best price-performance ratio in the industry, and we have been very pleased by the reliability and ease of maintenance of the CacheFlow appliances."
CacheFlow appliances locally store and serve the Internet content most often requested by users, while simultaneously monitoring the source of that content for changes. In doing so, CacheFlow's operating system, CacheOSTM, and custom hardware improve response time for Internet users, deliver fresher content and more efficiently utilize existing bandwidth.
Global One has long held a recognized leadership position as a provider of high-quality, dedicated Internet access to international businesses and Internet Service Providers around the globe.
"Global One has an ambitious strategy of delivering seamless service to business and consumer subscribers worldwide," said Stu Aaron, vice president of marketing and product management at CacheFlow. "Our Internet caching appliances -- designed to ensure 'Internet equality' to users regardless of their location -- are ideally suited to help Global One cost-effectively reach its goals."
