<I am curious as to what you are going to use to spot a relative market top, to avoid holding during a swoon like April 1999.>

Hi David:

1) I will be watching the dot and iix indices for violations of key support lines and moving averages

2) I will be watching my stocks for same

3) I will be watching sector leaders for same (often my stocks <g>)

Broader indices such as the dow and comp cannot be ignored, even though they seem to predict little re: the stocks I own.

I find myself significantly into margin right now, not so much by choice as by default - just too many good stocks to own. I keep asking myself if there is anything I can sell, and so far the answer is usually no. I will be going on vacation 12/23 and will likely eliminate margin before I go. I will have access to a SELL button while there, to sleep better at night. <g>

I have a hard time imagining an intermediate-term selloff before 4Q earnings season. We shall see.

Good luck.
