Goutama, or should I call you Sherlock Holmes. That was a good bit of research. They are obviously preparing for a new world order, one in which their clients have a choice and are getting all their ducks lined up.

Goutama,

Excellent Work! As you know, around the time of the first GTW rumors, I also did some of these same searches and can therefore verify for the thread that these documents were not available.

If you notice, all of these document were recently created (between 12/7 and 12/9). While the argument certainly could be made that this is just contingency planning to cover all available processors, I personally agree that these support Athlon adoption by GTW.

On an unrelated note, I saw this interview on a gaming site posed to a system builder of specialized gaming systems.

VE: Which is better: AMD's Athlon or Intel's Pentium III? Why?

KR: That's an easy one, but the reasons why may surprise you. It's pretty much common knowledge now that Athlons are faster than P3's at just about any speed class. Gamers recognize this and our product lines switched from 100% intel for the last 7 years to about 95% Athlon within two months. What really makes me enjoy seeing AMD's new success with the Athlon is the people at AMD whom I work with. Point blank, Intel doesn't care about gaming. Intel doesn't give us, or any other small OEM, the time of day. The people at AMD are totally different. AMD approached us before Athlon's release because they knew the gamers were important, and that we will only use the fastest components. While Intel plays tricks and neither I, nor anyone outside the press, can get Coppermine 733's yet, AMD made sure we were able to ship the gamers Athlon 750s when they were announced. In short, AMD values gamers and gaming performance. I can't even tell you what's cooking next with them, but expect more great toys from them in the future.

Again, good detective work!

Goutama - RE: "Now it contains references to "Athlon" besides all the other Intel CPUs."

Awesome, and Nice Find!

Gateway announcing they are going to use the Athlon will make for a nice New Year's treat!

RE <<<Search --> Athlon --> click on the item "2 contents". It's a big document and prepare to give it some time to load. ( click here gateway.com. to go directly to the Athlon search results page and then click on "2. contents" document>>>

Goutama, I emailed M.Burstiner and asked if she knows anything. I let you know if she says anything.

Goutama,

I'm a little late, but great confirmation on the pending Gateway announcement. I think they will wait until just after Christmas to announce.

On another note, I believe that large OEMs will take more time than usual to qualify the PIII 750 and 800s in their systems due to the use of notched gates; especially with the recent Stutterbug. They should be a little leary of Intel in their reactionary mode to AMD. If I were Dell, I would be oven testing the damn things myself to verify long-term reliability.
