Niceguy, <you like many others are unable to make the distinction, it seems, between an architecture like the "spry Athy" with a tremendous amount of headroom (and only in its infant stage!) and its competitor which is showing many bruises already from bumping its head against its ceiling...>

I see this as a competitor taking advantage of a window of opportunity left open. That's about it. I also think too many people are judging Intel's long-term prospects based on short-term problems and false rumors generated by such problems. You would be one of them.

In any case, I've heard it all before. "AMD will do well; Intel is doomed." Circumstances may change (discovery of sub-$1000 market, 3DNow!, new 6.5th generation technology), but the song still sounds the same to me.
