Nice post..
I picked this up in the ALSC thread

"Demand for DRAM is rising due to Microsoft Windows 2000 requiring 128Mbit capacity compared with 64Mbit capacity for Windows 98. Winbond (2344) forecasts the average price for 64Mbit DRAM will be around US$7 in 2000 and forecasts its earnings will reach NT$10bn, for an EPS of NT$3.4. "

The implication to me is that I will have to move out of my AT board to an ATX. Change the chipset to something that will cache more, and run a different CPU.. Seems to me as this becomes more evident, Linux will look even more attractive since it will run on anything from a 386 upwards with respectable amounts of RAM.

pete
