Thieves Seize Rare 'Gulliver's Travels'

BELFAST (Reuters) - Armed robbers swept into a public library in Northern
Ireland Tuesday and walked away with an irreplaceable copy of Jonathan
Swift's 1726 classic ``Gulliver's Travels,' police said.

The two men produced a handgun and tied up the librarian in the daring
daylight robbery in the center of the ancient cathedral city of Armagh.

``They then stole a number of items, including the original 'Gulliver's Travels'
book and two maces dating back from 1600,' a police spokeswoman said.

Police said it was too early to say who was behind the theft of the rare copy
of Swift's tale of an adventurer who happens upon the strange worlds of the
Lilliputians, Brobdingnagians, Houyhnhnms, Yahoos and Struldbrugs.
