I don't know. I barely understood it.
From what I can tell, it's really a diatribe against TV and the sensationalism it promotes...making fringe behavior seem normal.
My guess would be that he's right - TV is designed to make sensational claims and empower the fringes - much as the internet empowers the unempowered (go figure that one out!).
Point is - we have the right to live the way we want, to do what we want, but we have to live up to the consequences and not expect anyone to pick up the tab for our indiscretions.

Example: Klinton and Lewinsky walk around scot-free and "celebrities". Tripp is in deep doo-doo. While I believe that Tripp deserves every legal crack she takes - how did the other two get to avoid ANY ramifications of their abhorrent behavior?

It's the society we live in. What can you do?
