the way I see it, the multiple database thing is a non issue. All ARDTs databases can be termed legacy, and simply offer additional revenue stream in the short term (no R+D required), and an opportunity to upgrade in the long term. They do not need to be integrated.

Informix positions 3 key engines - (i) an all purpose OLTP database (that can handle multi-media etc), (ii) a high end data warehouse engine and (iii) a data mart engine (red brick). This strategy is back to the old days - and is a direct counter to Oracle's approach of 'one size fits all'.

As to the other point about ARDT's ORCL customers...I can only agree that Informix will lose some points here...although they are starting to position some of their other products as database independent and they are obviously trying to position themselves as database independent providers.
