If it's cdmaOne, then it's Qcom patent and there has to be a royalty.

I don't think the cdmaOne notebook has a CDMA chip inside, it's just a marketing ploy to take advantage of the popularity and perception of quality the japanese have for the cdmaOne brand. I assumed Qualcomm let them market that name for free advertising. All this is based on the fact that the product press release didn't mention a CDMA chip in the extensive specification list. I think the notebook is said to be configured to be ideal for a wireless data user but, again, I think it is just marketing hype. My Dell notebook plugged into my Thinphone without a snag.
