Yes, Dagney Taggert was a great character. All of her characters seem a little too good to be true. All the men have square jaws, the women all have high cheekbones, and they all stride purposefully across a room, nobody ever just walks. But there is nothing wrong with creating these heroic figures, it gives us something to aspire to.

In The Fountainhead Dominique Francon is a well developed character. Although Howard Roark is the main character, Dominique ain't no shrinking violet and ultimately is a more memorable character than Dagney Taggert, imo. Happy Reading!
