Bill,

Interesting, I was thinking the same thing about KEY, which is one of the ones I follow occasionally. (Despite living on the west coast for close to a decade, I still find myself following east coast banks more than the local ones.) Seems similar. Yield is up to 4.66, PE at 9, and it's been slammed in the past two days because of rumors that they'll disappoint.

My view is that even if they disappoint (and a lot of the banks will), there's not much potential downside from here.

I almost bought this one for a short term trade a few weeks ago, looking for a pop in financials. On your urging I avoided it and got a good quick 6 bucks on GS instead. Now I'm thinking the bottom is close enough to start accumulating.

Unfortunately, I also didn't buy ZION at that time. It has moved very nicely since then, but is now out of my range for purchase.

Agreed.

I can only draw the parallel between CPU and Computer City, and WM and Great Western.

What does your merger accounting tell you?
