Raymond --

Your concerns are not unfounded. I have seen more than one company open completely opposite from what the after-hours trading was indicating the night before. It does happen. People might get spooked by the loss (yes, that seems to happen every quarter CMGI posts a loss...) and that could drive us down.

However, in recent months, as ECNs have gained momentum, the after-hours markets have been more liquid and therefore much more reliable indicators. They're not as solid as the traditional exchanges, obvey, but they're much more solid than they used to be.

Right now, A-H quote (RT) has us at 233. That'd be a fine open tomorrow IMHO!

I wouldn't compare the two. Personally, I've never had much success trading ARBA. Up one day, down the next. CMGI is much more predictable, but there's always the chance it will put in a short term top/reversal tomorrow. I'll be checking the volume on to see if it gets excessive (20 mil+).

I still think it goes to 250-300 by split. Speaking of which, it looks like split date is the same as YHOO's earnings (sorry if this was mentioned before). I was hoping for that but thought it was too much too ask. Nice timing, DW.

BTW, Ariba did not open down but did close down the day after announcing a split.

PS. How 'bout that Softie? NICE.
