Santiago, I think it really does put things in perspective for us as Christians when we hear about the persecution of Christian missionaries all around the world, in this day and time. I know of some in Mexico, Japan, and Australia that I get newsletters from. The people in Mexico are the parents of a lady who goes to my church. They were both teachers, here in the states, and when they got the calling, they left everything behind and went. Also had to learn the language. The people in Japan were my next door neighbors. The first year there, most of their time was spent learning "That" language. I pray for all of the missionaries who are putting their very life on the line to share our Lord Jesus with the world. I have noticed when I have had a chance to speak missionaries, they are very humble people.

Santiago, There are Christian outreaches all over the Islamic world. These outreaches only really got going in the early 80's and are now expanding in a number of areas in particular. Go e.g., to frontiers.org if you'd like to see one of the most active for e.g. And I'd say that the Islamic world defies stereotypes, and like the Christian world comes in an amazing variety of shapes, colors temperments, and attitudes toward religion, etc.

But one thing it does lack is Jesus' message of redemption and rebirth....
