Z.O: The ratio of R&D man hours and R&D dollars to the cost and profitability of the end product in a similar Industry must be within tight bounds.

There may be many excuses to be found or made when a Company finds itself outside the bounds. The last part of your submission indicates NN overextends itself in reliability whilst focussing on too many details.

What are the many details that NN's R&D had been wrongly focussed on .?

Many R&D labs have little or no accountability and many R&D heads were the first to be removed during a shake up. Did not NN go thru that stage recently under Mr Lutz.?

I know NN spends mega Bucks on R&D. It is therefore important to know how effective that spending is in terms of its feed back in profitability; not apples and Oranges.!
