Traders will make lots of money with inevitable fluctuations of AMZN, but long-term trend is up....

Sam - in spite of all the negative things I've written about Amazon on this thread, I do believe that Amazon has done an excellent job in designing, setting up and managing their web site - in terms of speed and ease of use and navigation, it is definitely one of the best e-commerce sites out there (in my opinion).

My main issues Amazon are more in the financial realm - in my mind, they have not yet proven that they can be profitable, even slightly profitable, doing what they do. One could argue that their lack of profitability is due to the need for investments in infrastructure and marketing while the company is in its infancy. The infrastructure investments will most likely decrease over the coming years, but I'm not convinced that the marketing spending will - the competitive nature of the web may require a successful web firm to continuously market their brand. And with the thin margins available in selling over the web - well, it's going to be tough for Amazon and others to show reasonable profit any time soon.

Thanks,
-Eric
