Jim - RE: "What is DELL doing selling Athlons?"

Makin' $$$. ;)

Dell's Gigabuys is like Gateway's NECX - they both sell all kinds of computer products.

It is pretty weird, however, because Gigabuys is supposed to attract previous Dell customers.

I did a search for AMD there at least over a month ago and nothing showed up. So their selling AMD processors is new.

The funny thing is they are selling Athlons, but no Athlon motherboards!

Here's a better link because yours didn't work.

Jim, An attempt to buy that part from Dell gets me this

"430168 is not available"

But from gigabuys, it is in stock

"Your Shopping Cart
Item Unit Price* Qty. Item Total
AMD
AMD-K7-700MHZ 128K L1 CACHE 200MHZ FSB SLOTA
W/3D-NOW AND MMX
$839.95 $839.95

Total $839.95 "

It looks like giga simply buys and sells parts of any kind, but Dell does not show the parts as component of their sytems....yet
