RE>>Yes, Jesus showed that he could lose his temper. <<

Jesus show the wrath of God on the wicked that will surely come.

RE>>Encouragement in the promises of Jesus seem to be more appropriate than the threats of God for the novice<<

Your description of Salvation is very humanistic.

Men who are saved by the spirit of God are not the same as those who make an intellectual decisions that could have gone either way if only for this or that!

Jesus did not LOSE HIS TEMPER as you have said.

He spent a long time making the whip that He used on the money changes it was not a sudden shock that took Him by surprise and overwhelmed Him in a moment.. It was premeditated and planned example of Righteous Anger.

John 2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

Jesus went and made a scourge ( a whip ) That took time... some say hours some say longer... but in any case it was longer than counting to ten... He had lots of time to rethink about beating men with whips and driving them out of temples.

Jesus had Righteous Anger

The Bible teaches that GOD is not just a God of Love but also of Anger.

God's wrath is greater than any wrath and more fierce and long lasting than any anger mere men can dream of. Read Revelations 16 the whole chapter...

Jesus was not a sinner who "lost" control of Himself...

Self Control is a Gift of the Spirit.. Loss of control is the flesh.. Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and is God. He had the spirit without measure as we do.

Do you know what being Born-again means?
