Here's the story of my Keravision/Intacs procedure. My surgery was scheduled for 4:30 pm. They offered me Valium of which I took half because I was not too nervous about the procedure. I was having only my right eye done because it was 20/70 and my left eye is a tolerable 20/30. Before the procedure, I was told that there would a little pain and some pressure on the eye when the suction device is attached to the eye. I felt no pain and only a slight bit of pressure when they did that. I was not aware that they were working on my eye because I was focused straight up at the ceiling and couldn't really see anything with peripheral vision. The procedure was over in twenty minutes. After the procedure, I was not uncomfortable at all but my vision varied between clear and fuzzy for the rest of the night. I was told that my eye might be irritated this morning but that was not the case. I returned to the doctor first thing this morning and now have nearly 20/20 vision, less than 15 hours after the procedure and still feel no irritation. I had to drive about 30 miles to his office this morning and was amazed at the difference. I just was not expecting to see as crisply as I could. I'm told the eye takes more time to get adjusted to the Intacs and that vision will continue to improve over the coming weeks. The only downside is the loss of my crisp reading ability which was expected. I could read a newspaper OK this morning, but reading stock quotes in IBD was dicey. So far, I'm very satisfied with the procedure and results and can truthfully say that most trips to the dentist are more a nuisance than this was. RK
