RESEARCH ALERT-Microsoft stays strong buy

NEW YORK, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston said analyst Michael Kwatinetz reiterated his strong buy rating on software company Microsoft Corp. Thursday.

-- Windows2000 software's release to manufacturing is in line with expectations, he said in a report.

-- Company repeated will ship product Feb. 17.

-- "Microsoft's valuation usually peaks a month before a major product release, and we believe this a good time to own the stock.

-- ``We reiterate our strong buy rating.'

-- Lehman Brothers said Microsoft would ``print a good Q2' and a ``meltup' was in progress.
