rd, do u know why jim clark left sgi? it was because they were being BOXED into the "high end graveyard" and that is a DIRECT quote. can't you see what is happening? sun.com is slowly being pushed into a small corner of the market where they still have a slight edge in your mind. but the market is getting more and more competitve BELOW that level. I don't think its any great shakes to "OWN" the high end.

Your spin on IBM does not wash. Facts count the IBM machine is faster and cheaper than the 10K.

All this switched fabric nonsense is a diversion from the actual measured performance of the machines on a variety of benchmarks. Benchmarks do count that is why all they are subscribed to by the manufacturers. Asserting that they do not is a very weak position to take.

I heard it before on this thread. Benchmarks and product cost are not important. All that is important is the price of the stock. <g>
