El Sitio Signs Agreement with Akamai to Provide More Compelling Online
Experiences to Users
NEW YORK and BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- El Sitio,
Inc. (Nasdaq: LCTO), the creator of elsitio.com and
osite.com.br, announced today it has signed an agreement with
Akamai Technologies (Nasdaq: AKAM) to deploy Akamai servers in the El Sitio
network. Akamai's servers are designed to improve performance and deliver
content faster and more reliably to subscribers accessing the El Sitio
network. El Sitio has also selected Akamai's FreeFlow(SM) service in an
effort to enhance the speed, performance, and reliability of its two Web
properties.
Akamai's innovative and global Internet content and applications delivery
service furthers the evolution of the Internet from a "best-effort" transport
system into a high-performance network utilizing a massive deployment of over
1700 servers located close to end users. With the deployment of Akamai
servers in El Sitio's network, their ISP customers should be able to deliver,
in a more rapid and reliable fashion, a wide range of popular Web content from
more than 200 leading Web properties that use Akamai's service.
