Definitely. You can always give yourself a dividend by selling shares, and you even pay a lower tax rate. That's what I call win-win. The only thing I'd fault Gates for is holding such enormous amounts of cash. In effect he's forcing shareholders to park some of their assets in cash whether they want to or not. Does he need more than a few billion to keep the company operating? He should either put the money to work or return it through share buy-backs.
