i just looked JDSU at $248 and the dec calls at $5.

if you hold the in-the-money calls and you don't exercise them, your brokerage firm will sell them on your behalf if they are in the money around a dollar or so or more -- the amount depends on the firm. they won't just let you lose the money due to inertia or stupidity.
