And I know plenty of money still waiting for the end of the year and the start of the new one...without the y2k crap and the fear factor of the bubble...

There is lots of optimism and also pent-up demand that is waiting for us to safely get through the Y2K problem. Companies and governments are holding off on all kinds of purchases and upgrades until the end of January or so. I think all companies involved with computer hardware and software will see a surge in orders after January and the momentum from that will boost the economy through most of next year.

I do think there will be an enormous bear market at some point in the next decade. 2001 looks scary to me, assuming the Fed has to raise rates again and again and again.
