This has been wonderful reading! Neenny, what a memorable date.

For Lost1 and for Joe, some ideas for Christmas (I agree, Jane) gifts, available online:

Cashmere twin set (not in pink or yellow)
Cashmere robe or loungeset
Pearls - get them from a reputable store
If you go with jewelry, buy from Neiman's, Saks or Tiffany's - places you can return it. (My favorite: David Yurman)

OK OK...on the serious side of this issue..

Jewelry
If you chose this obvious choice for a cherished gift...and really wanted to do it online. Choose a company with a national reputation, (<ggg> Tiffany's, would work out perfectly) As a nationally reputable company would have some sort of satisfaction guarantee. You could also do a search for a jeweler in your area that has online service available.....If all else fails, call JXM, and have him contact his jeweler friend who has been known to get him out of last minute jams.

Home Decor
With the new house, maybe think in terms of decorating. Does the Mrs. have a favorite artist or art style?? Maybe a painting/print by an artist she likes or style would be a cherished memory of your first Christmas in your new home. From the itsallaboutme department, my personal choice would be Terry Redlin.. Or how about comissioning a local artist to do a portrait of your children??? (Of course the reason you would not have done this in advance is because.....you are sure the Mrs. would want to decide the wardrobe for the children..)

the romantic options
Plan an evening out.....that means you arrange the babysitter and make the dinner reservations...
Plan an evening in.....you provide the keys to romance, beverage, candle light, nightie (for her, not you...<ggg>) fragrance. (ask for more details for making this suggestion work...and not making it look like a planned night of passionate sex just for you.. that would just be a fringe benifit...LOL)

Flowers
several option here also...

buy her a flower vase, suitable to the decor of your home...arrange for flowers to be delivered once a month.....PLAN THIS IN ADVANCE.....place the order with the florist NOW...don't rely on memory to do it each time...bi-monthly would work also. Choose date that are reflective of your lives together. This will take some time, but could pretty much be done, without leaving your computers side. Hint.....start with a Christmas Pointsetta being delivered.

Or...

Purchase a tree or a rose bush or something of that nature to make a memory of your first Christmas in your new house!!
