Is it feasible to use (for K6-3) an ATX motherboard or
a slot A motherboard(for Athlon) in a laptop case providing it is driven by standard (non battery) power only?

Or would everything fry in the small box?

I am not so sure of that one. There has been talk a while back (icluding some PR from AMD) about mobile K6-3s. So, the odds are there is something out there but probably takes some digging to find given K6-3 is basically EOL product.
