A. Charles, calculating implied volitility is important to understanding value. I would also suggest that you first trade options on paper, buying and selling, just to get the feel of it. Also, there's nothing wrong with starting small, like 5 contracts. There's no rule that says you have to deal trade 100 contracts at a time, or even 10.
