I was driving into Dallas today and listening to a talk show and the topic was physical punishment. SEveral people called in to say they offered their children a choice of spanking or the loss of a valued possession or event... and they invariably took the spanking. This implies that the punishment packing the most "wallop" is NOT the physical one!

This is not submitted as an official research conclusion. No statistical studies were conducted on any sized population at all. I was not paid to listen to this program by an organization or to draw this conclusion. Do not stop beating your child based on the evidence presented in this post.

<<By the way, discipline, in whatever form, should not just be about behavioral modification, but about accountability and justice. >>

But accountability and justice are modifiers of our behavior. By accountability I include conscience.

As far as I know only Christ Almighty, Martin Luther and the Reverend Al Sharpton have ever lived pure lives because they wanted too.
