By The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition

NEW YORK -- A technology-stock rally lifted the Nasdaq Composite Index to close above 3,700 for the first time Thursday. But blue-chip shares lagged as interest rates in the bond market rose to their highest level in two years.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 19.57 to close at 11,244.89, righting itself in the last half-hour of trading after losing more than 100 points earlier in the day. Another strong showing for Dow .
