Miguel, I love my DELL Inspiron 7000. 14'' display. 196 ram. dvd.
Sound will be an issue if you're planning on listening to movies in the car. YOu'll need some sort of adapter to run into the car stereo or a powered speaker set that runs on DC.
You're gonna spend 2 grand if you buy a DELL.

Mike, a common misperception, I don't know anything about computers...just how to connect them. Even then, my specialty is voice and video. Anyway, my philosophy is to buy the biggest, most powerful with the most storage and memory. That way it won't be obsolete for another 3 months (as opposed to being obsolete two weeks ago).
