Capt: Just saw something funny from COMPAQ. A prime time TV show in the UK has a comedienne reviewing funny commercials from other countries.

There was one from the Netherlands of a "mouse" i.e. a computer clicker surrounded by five real mice standing on their hind legs and singing to the computer mouse "For he's a jolly good fellow" in squeaky voices. At the end of the song it pulled away to give a view of the whole computer and the words "Presario from COMPAQ".

Cap'n,
But Liz said Dell was THE value play... hardly a credible analysis in my view. Her comments were just superficial fluff, designed to appear competent.

Captain,

"As Liz on TV just said,, it is a value play with unproven new mgmt and only a hint things are getting better"

I know better. Lou Gerstner of IBM & and recently, Eric S. of Novell took over and initiated the same cost reductions and stragtic redirection of their company. There are so many things wrong
with Compaq, Mike Cappellas only needs to tweek a few and
the stock will be in the 40's by Spring.

To wait until the turnaround is apparent is to be buying in the 30's
and 40's. This will be when the analysts will be yelling out "BUYs"...
because they've loaded the boat in the below 20 and low 20's range.

"I would not buy another share at any price..."

You must have been burned real bad. CPQ is not going away.
There is some much potential for the company...just tweek a few
knobs is all.
