cbs.marketwatch.com Chips upgraded Chip issues took a cue Thursday after Morgan Stanley Dean Witter analyst Mark Edelstone increased his price target on eight semiconductor stocks. He also upped his earnings per share estimates on 9 chip companies. Some Quotes... "Provided that first-quarter consumption trends are stronger than expected, we believe it will be possible for overall semiconductor industry revenue growth to exceed the high-end of our forecast next year," Edelstone wrote in a research note. Brad Mook, an analyst at Pennsylvania Merchant Group, said there are a couple of factors involved in today's trading. "One, the broader technology market's looking a little stronger today," he said. "Two, a recent weakness which stemmed from concerns about inventory building ahead of Y2K - people are realizing that that's not going to be a very big issue."
