HomeSpace.com was launched in mid-June 1999. Home Space Services, Inc. is one of the nation's leading affinity marketing firms for residential real estate and mortgage services. We operate a centralized national transaction center in suburban Denver to oversee our national real estate affiliate network and mortgage brokerage relationships with over 60 national and regional lenders.
The company began its current business operations as AmeriNet Financial Systems, INC. in September 1997 with a real estate and mortgage program for Costco Wholesale members in the State of Washington. The program combined high-quality homeowner services with cash rebates and discounts. By 1998, the consumer-based programs had moved into seven states and the District of Columbia. In March 1999, wholesale pricing strategies were added to the mortgage program and consumer benefits continued to expand.
In early 1999, Wall Street came calling at AmeriNet's door. Major funding for the company came from an investment group led by Global Retail Partners, a fund managed by Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, (known in the financial community as "DLJ"). Principals in Global Retail Partners include DLJ, Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, and Carrefour S.A., the world's largest international retailer.
Other major investors include T. Rowe Price, Oak Partners of Minneapolis, Robert Zangrillo, former Chairman, CEO and co-founder of Interworld, and AmeriNet's co-founders: John J. Pembroke, W. P. Yeager, and Eric H. Cunliffe.
Henry T. DeNero, Chairman and CEO, was selected by the Board to lead the HomeSpace team. DeNero came to HomeSpace from First Data Corporation and is the former Vice-Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Dayton Hudson Corporation. Mortgage services veteran, Eric Cunliffe, continues as President and Chief Operating Officer. Other key executives have been added to the firm's management team.
Under DeNero's leadership, the company is rapidly developing HomeSpace e-commerce opportunities and expanding its mortgage and real estate operations to serve the entire nation. The HomeSpace web site and on-line operations were added in June 1999. HomeSpace plans to complete national licensing requirements in 1999, following corporate name changes and licensing approvals.
