Good analysis SJO: -

FYI, 12-10-99, Valueline (expanded edition), page 45 still lists XICO as (1,5) at a $ 10 price. XICO is still timely for appreciation. I see no problem with a $ 20 XICO in the next three months. It may touch $ 15 by the end of 1999.

It has occurred to me that Xicor may have been trying to call someone's bluff regarding an offer for the Milpitas fab. If so, they may be trying to hasten the sale, but are not necessarily certain to terminate the fab this year. Thus, the whole subject of writedowns is nebulous at this point, and Soundview is trying to be conservative from all points of view even though this may give rise to the inconsistencies you have detailed.
