*Robert, In sofar as this is a matter in bankruptcy court, will NXTL even be allowed to "bid"? I thought the matter was between the court and the company and the FCC.*

I hope not, but four months ago I thought it impossible that the FCC and Nextel would even speak to each other, much less climb into bed like they have. Strange things are afoot. You are right though . . . NEXTEL has zero chance of getting anything, but they can make it difficult for our group through basic skullduggery.

Robert and Doug,

The FCC in August approved Nextel's bid for NextWave spectrum:

<Nextel Bids $2.1B For Extra Network Capacity
(08/19/99, 11:51 a.m. ET) By Guy Middleton, TechWeb
Nextel has offered to buy bankrupt NextWave Telecom's radio spectrum, according to Bloomberg. The Reston, Va.-based wireless network provider has offered NextWave $2.1 billion, with the aim of increasing capacity for wireless Internet access. Nextel received approval from the Federal Communications Commission last week to bid for the spectrum.>
