Stephen - Intel announces another Inktomi eCommerce Link Up.

"Intel Online Services and Inktomi Collaborate On Online Shopping

New Product Promotion Network to Provide iCat Enabled Merchants Visibility to More Than 100 Million Visitors
"

Please note - if another Dot.Com company made this announcement (AOL, Amazon, Exodus), that stock would be good for a $20+/share HIKE in one day!

Intel must be the Rodney Dangerfield of the Internet Set - it doesn't get ANY RESPECT !

Intel Online Services and Inktomi Collaborate On Online Shopping

New Product Promotion Network to Provide iCat Enabled Merchants Visibility to More Than 100 Million Visitors

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 1999-- Intel Online Services, Inc. and Inktomi Corp. (NASDAQ:INKT - news) today announced that merchants enabled by Intel Online Services' iCat service line can now feature their products on portals and destination sites running the Inktomi Shopping Engine. Inktomi currently powers online commerce for leading sites including iWon.com, LookSmart, and Merrill Lynch.

In concert with this agreement, iCat has launched the Product Promotion Network (PPN), icat.com, which enables participating merchants to reach interested consumers through high visibility shopping destination sites. All merchants that have built online storefronts using iCat's commerce services can choose to participate in the fee-based PPN. Inclusion in this program can help merchants reach an estimated 100 million visitors through leading portals and commerce sites, including Inktomi powered sites.

''This is extremely significant for merchants that develop an online presence using iCat services. Rather than being limited to any one portal or mall, they will have the opportunity to gain exposure for their products across many leading sites,'' said Tim Dowling, e-Commerce marketing director, Intel Online Services. ''Our agreement with Inktomi can substantially increase sales opportunities and distribution for iCat enabled merchants.''

''The Inktomi Shopping Engine combines powerful commerce infrastructure with a broad range of merchants and products, enabling rich shopping capabilities on a wide variety of portals, destination sites, and devices,'' said Stuart Spiegel, vice president and general manager of Inktomi's commerce group. ''Our work with Intel Online Services will enhance our partners' shopping capabilities and create online opportunities for many small and medium-size businesses.''

In addition, iCat now offers merchants an updated version of its iCat Commerce Online store building service which include new style templates for store design.

stephen,

Re Bloomberg's: Intel is struggling to meet demand for microprocessors right now as more people buy personal computers to get on the Internet

It sure would be nice to once again hear the magic words, "We're sold out for the quarter." I recall the last time that occurred there was a real upside earnings surprise. I refer to the jump to 4Q96 $1.91B net income from 3Q96's 1.312B. Presplit eps jumped to 1.07 from .74.

Now if we get a nice jump in demand in January from those individuals and businesses that decided to wait until Y2K was past before ordering, we might have one fantastic 1Q00.
