John,

It looks like both my short PUTs and your covered CALLs will probably expire worthless tomorrow.

Drat! Another chance to catch up with your number of shares owned probably lost. Yesterday, it was looking pretty good.

Given your view about the short term direction for the stock, why take a chance on having it called away by scalping less than a point on covered calls; unless, of course, selling a few shares is necessary to rebalance one's portfolio?

Sorry for adding to the off topic noise earlier today,
Ian.

John S. <<I spent the first 15 yrs of my investment life
REMOVING emotion from the equation so that I could make the most $.>>
If you had successfully removed emotion from your investment life as you state, John, you never would have rode MTSN to $2.75 during the Asian crisis in 1998. I warned you and the rest of the tread in early Oct. 1997 that I had recently been to Korea and Taiwan and that the crisis could be devastating to companies like MTSN. I knew that Korean and Taiwanese buyers of chip equipment were not going to be able to get financing for their purchases. The stock was then in the 11-12 range. Taking the emotion out of investing does not involve wearing rose colored glasses all of the time. My comment about buying puts was a sincere one and you obviously took offense to it. However, if we had bought some puts when the stock was in the 17-18 range, we would have made some money. This seems like money in the bank since MTSN has the exact same trading pattern every quarter. Side note to Ian, please quit telling me to sell my stock. You wouldn't want to see what would happen to the price if I dumped my shares. Besides, I love MTSN. While I enjoy your postings, I just wish you two guys weren't so thin skinned when it comes to posters who may not wear rose colored glasses all of the time. There should be room for everybody on this excellent thread. All the best and Merry Christmas. Phil
