You stated yesterday and today that future is in optics and
optoelectic-switch ( appreciate if you could provide link and elaborate more on the subject. But I need some case not pure word).
Today you stated that optics in core will need intelligent switch on the edge and added that cell tax make ATM to expensive, without comments that ATM provide required QoS, where IP as we know NOT.
Also you did not comment, how complicated and costly may be IP in the future if QoS will be added.
On the other hand it does not exist now so it is very difficult to talk about something not existing and carries need solution TODAY, and such solution which would allow them to have smooth migration, which is real with ATM infrastructure.
Simply speaking, risk for waiting for "perfect IP" where solutions are needed today is too high.
So having proven ATM which carry successfully IP services with QoS is the best bet on the edge as intelligent platform.
Some carriers were waiting too long for perfect IP solution.

But coming back to you last post, now you are talking about what is currently favor by media and where is, in short term, money flow, what has nothing to do with real growth of ATM switches/routers by vendors sales and real deployment by carrier.

If you are talking about "growth" in terms where money are flocking then there is not disagreement between us.

Tbit routers community and ATM switch/routers community are coming from different points to the same common infrastructure. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages.Big carriers preferred ATM switch/router approach, were emerging the second one.
Approach which is represented by NN or LU has been longer,is proven in large networks and has much better manageability.
Under the hood you will find out that there is little difference.Much bigger exist in press and among journalists and financiers, who would never promote successfully IPO without word IP. If you have not figured it out, it is not to late

BTW, I have heard that 450 can be run as a router, with the same management platform all 36170... filmily is run.
30%+ growth in ATM, with huge opportunity in access space is more then enough.
Without right execution, even twice bigger growth would not means to much.
Never buy car based on speed only and what salesman will tell you.

Good luck with your money, and hope you will follow right trend.
