Triple witching means the similtaneous expiration of Options, Futures and Options on Futures; hench the word "triple"..... Options technically expire at the close of the Market on the 3rd Friday of the month. But in reality, the options are exercised on the following Saturday. For us individuals, the options expire at the close of the market on which they trade, after that, it's hunt and peck to dispose of them. If they are "in the money" the "house" that holds your options will automatically exercise them or allow them to be exercise against you, on that Saturday.
