>> suspect the small Geos footprint will do without a CD-ROM

According to the GEOS web info, it appears that Geoworks is targeting it at a range of devices including phones and PDAs.

I take this to mean that a GEOS box could consist of just about anything. It's minimum footprint is probably $60 worth of hardware. They have drivers for most media. The OS itself is ROMable. They call out C++ and Java for developers, but say little about their SDK.

Go have a look at www.desktop.com ... see how far forward they are leaning to get developers involved.

If I was going to do anything with GEOS, it might be as a super set-top box ... I think it's just too weak to sell against generic PCs ... but then, I don't have a feel for the very low-end market.
