i.e., companies getting added benefit to their stock prices because of changing of their paradigms, or doing something flashy outside of their core business. Let me see if I can understand:

IBM's growth is mostly in e-commerce and service, as their mainframes and other old-line businesses go sideways. I understand that one.

Sun is the dot in .com, the Internet is the computer. Got that one too.

Microsoft, what's the added pizzaz here? Rumor of a tracking stock? Can't be Janet Reno. :-Cisco? They're all network, Internet related anyway. Can't get much cooler than that. What's the deal there?

Intel is certainly diversifying in many ways, though. If it does kick into the stock price, it's gravy.
